I don't know, it's hard to put a number to that, but I’d be naive to say that being a white male hasn’t played a role in my success. There are systemic advantages that come with identity—whether it’s being perceived as a default fit in certain spaces or benefiting from unconscious biases that favor people like me.

At the same time, I’ve worked hard, with intention, and invested in developing my skills, building relationships, and creating opportunities for myself. I'm proud of that. I also know others might work just as hard and face more barriers because of their identity.

That said, I try to use my position to create more opportunities for others—whether it’s by mentoring, advocating for fair practices, or challenging biases when I see them. Success shouldn’t be determined by factors like race or gender, and I want to contribute to environments where that’s the case. I'm not perfect, but I'm trying to make things better for everyone when I can.

How much of your vocational success to do attribute to being a white male?
